Thankful...

Thanksgiving 2012 is in the books. My November is just flying by. We had a wonderful holiday spent with family. I took the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off of work to enjoy Heather's workout class in the morning and my kiddos after that. Would you believe the weather was in the lower 60s! Very thankful for this amazing Fall weather we have had. We spent most of the afternoon outside and at the park....

Thursday was Thanksgiving and I spent a little time talking to Carter about the Holiday and what it meant, what we would be doing. I told him that I was thankful for my family and asked him what he was thankful for. In the morning he said he was thankful for the healthy food we would have for brunch and by the afternoon he told me he was thankful for the bath seat :). The bath seat he is referring to is one that Aunt Katie gave us and allowed Isla to take a bath with Carter, which he LOVED!

We had brunch at the Fountains with my grandma and Iowa Dobroski family. My grandma reserved the big room just for us so the kids were able to run around. It worked out perfectly! There was also a piano in the room so Carter and Addison loved 'playing' that. My aunt can actually play the piano so she played some songs for us while Addison danced. Of course, the train is always a big attraction too.

After brunch, it was over to my parents for some relaxing, football and naps. We went to Matt's parents to visit after Isla got up. Jeri wasn't feeling great Thanksgiving week so she and Dave had a quiet Thanksgiving at home. We headed back over to my parents for Thanksgiving dinner. After dinner and dessert, we concluded our Thanksgiving day with....a block fight?! Yep, my mom has big, soft, stuffed blocks for the kids to stack and occasionally have 'fights' with. So for a good ten minutes we all let out a little energy by throwing blocks at each other. No one was safe...not even Isla or Gus :).

The next day, my mom actually came down with the kids' colds so we just hung out around my parents' house. The boys braved the cold weather (35 degrees) to go to the Iowa v. Nebraska game. Katie and I went to a cycling class at the Y. Can't say that is my favorite class to take :). Since the weather took a turn for the cold side we were happy to stay in and relax. No Black Friday shopping for us this year and I can tell you I didn't miss it AT ALL.

Saturday held bootcamp in the morning and the Festival of Trees in the afternoon. Sunday we all tried to recover from the fun-filled holiday :).

We have so much to be thankful for: family, friends, our jobs, each other....the list goes on and on. It was really nice to take a moment and really embrace time with our family :).
