Goodbye 2009 - Hello 2010!

Today is the last day of 2009 and it is a little bittersweet for me. 2009 was such a great year for me and my family yet I am very excited to see what 2010 has to bring.

The beginning of the 2009 Matt and I spent preparing for Baby Hatz, which included finishing some last minute home projects. We enjoyed our last months of a family of three (Hayden included) until early one April day when we welcomed Carter Thomas Hatz into the world, our hearts and our family.

Carter Thomas graced us with his presence on April 2nd 2009 weighing in at 7 pounds 4 ounces and was 19 inches long. He is now almost 9 months old and close to 20 pounds! He is a happy, go-lucky guy who flashes us with his toothy smile all day long. He crawls around, pulls up, cruises on furniture and loves his big sister Hayden.

Hayden Rose turned 3 years old in July and has adjusted to life with baby pretty well. She checks on Carter every morning, likes giving him kisses, sniffing his diaper and sharing her toys with him. She stays home alone more often than all of us would like but she still sleeps in the most coveted spot on our bed...in between Matt and I!

2009 made Matt and I parents...and not just to a dog baby but a real, live human baby! One that our love created :). Parenthood has been so much more challenging than we could have ever imagined but, on the other hand, much more amazing than we ever expected. Carter has enriched our lives more than words can say even when life seemed overwhelming.

Matt still works as a Commercial Salesman but John Keady was bought out and now he works for Green Buick GMC! The change over was mostly uneventful and Matt enjoys working for the new management. I am still working at RSM McGladrey and even though the economy caused some hard times my work group pulled through and we look forward to a busy 2010.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year!
