Weekend Run Down: 10/25-27

For whatever reason, this October has been packed with events and almost every weekend has been extremely busy for us. This weekend was no exception. We went to DCC's Halloween Party on Friday night. This was the first year we have attended and it was so much fun!!

They had a ton of food, dancing, hayrack ride to a 'spooky' campsite and a camel apple station. Oh my! The kids had a great time with the exception of Isla. She had been battling a virus all week and got her shots during her 18 month appointment Friday morning. She had moments were she had it all together but for the most part was pretty whiney and clingy :(.

The other kids loved the dance floor and the hayrack ride. We took it out to a campsite off the 16th green where s'mores and hot chocolate was served. Addison and Carter even told a ghost story by the camp fire :) Addison's was about princesses and Carter's had something to do with being underwater. Silly kids. Gus loved when the man in charge told us to scream so that those coming in would know how 'scary' it was. He continued to scream for the next couple of minutes ;). After we had our fill of candy and fun we called it a night.

Saturday held the Northwestern game for me, Ryan, Katie and my dad. Matt had to work in the morning and was on 'kid duty' for the rest of the day. The Hawks pulled it out in OT and Ryan's arm was only slightly sore from me hitting him all afternoon ~ apparently I get violent when excited :).

Saturday night was McGladrey's fall family event at the pumpkin patch. We got to go out into the pumpkin patch and pick a pumpkin and then have a cookout for dinner. Isla was still recovering and again was super crabby. Partly because of her sickness but also because it was cold and she hates her hat with a passion. Needless to say, we didn't stay out too long.

Sunday morning was Boo at the Zoo!! We have done this the past several years with the kids and we all have a really good time. Carter and Addison loved going trick or treating around the zoo and got up close and personal with the lion! They are renovating the lions' den so they are currently behind bars and plexi glass so you really get to see them up close. The daddy lion, as we called him, got right up to the glass next to the kids. It was crazy!! Carter, Addison and Gus also go to feed the giraffes! A first for them ~ thanks Papa Tom!

Isla was still slightly under the weather and did NOT want to walk anywhere but luckily was content in the stroller. She did ride the train and carousel. I am was a little bummed because her outfit is so cute when she is upright. Since it was the end of the zoo season, all the items in the gift shop were on sale so Grandma let the kids pick out a toy. Isla wouldn't choose anything but Carter found a shark! A black tip reef shark to be exact and he couldn't be happier to add him to his collection. His name? Black tip. Of course!

What a fun a busy weekend!
