Celebrating with Mark and Grete - Thanksgiving!

Happy Man on Thanksgiving!
Wow, what a weekend! It was fun-filled and very busy - per usual :). I extended my holiday weekend by taking Wednesday off. I went to Bootcamp in the morning and did some last minute Christmas shopping in the afternoon. Oh, and spent the day with my favorite little man :). We welcomed Mark and Grete Wednesday afternoon and spent a wonderful evening relaxing and gearing up for the weekend.
Aunt Grete is funny!
Thursday morning we went to breakfast at my Grandma's. She made a tasty egg casserole and we spent the morning laughing at Carter and Addison and checking out the Black Friday ads. Then it was off for our first Thanksgiving meal at Matt's parents. We had a traditional Hatz Family holiday meal including turkey, yams, coleslaw and dumplings. After visiting for awhile, we were back at my folks for games, food and football! Katie is the reigning queen of Monopoly - 3 and 0! Dinner was wonderful even though my mom forgot the stuffing :)

A friendly game of Monopoly

Black Friday was very productive for my mom and Grete who were done shopping by six o'clock! Yes, they were the crazy people out at 4 in the morning :). I skipped Black Friday this year and enjoyed sleeping in. Matt had to work Friday but we met him for lunch at Van's (an new pizza place that used to be Pat McGuire's). It was pretty good and Matt bragged all weekend that he finished he 12 inch pizza. I reminded him that was something he shouldn't be proud of ;). After pizza we went back to my folks at watched Up!, which was a really good movie if you can get passed the depressing beginning - I was crying within the first ten minutes as Ryan kept promising me that "it gets funnier." Friday night was dinner at The Club, which was delicious as always.

Saturday morning the girls (minus Joanna) went to Bootcamp to burn off some Thanksgiving calories. Mark and my dad went golfing, of course! It was actually warmer this past weekend that when they went golfing, in the snow, in October. After showers and lunch, the girls and babies went to Festival of Trees. Carter and Addison enjoyed looking at the trees and each picked out a parting gift - a penguin for Addison and a lion for Carter. We went to the North Pole to visit Santa but his line was too long for our "in need of a nap" babies. Saturday night was a Secret Santa Gift Exchange (more on that in another post) and more games!

Sunday, we all went to breakfast at Village Inn before saying goodbye to Mark and Grete :(. The weekend had been so busy all we could do Sunday afternoon was nap! Carter slept for 3 hours :). Matt, Carter and I put up our Christmas tree Sunday night and so far both our babies (Carter and Hayden) have left it alone. We will see how long that lasts as I just witnessed Carter crawling towards Hayden! Okay, to be fair, he crawled two steps(?), knees(?) before plopping on his tummy but it will only be a matter of time!

"But Thanksgiving is more than eating, Chuck. You heard what Linus was saying out there. Those early Pilgrims were thankful for what had happened to them, and we should be thankful, too. We should just be thankful for being together. I think that's what they mean by 'Thanksgiving,' Charlie Brown."
- Marcie from A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
