Born Feb. 1, 1916, in Burlington, he was the son of Walter E. and Louise Miller Tiemeier. On Nov. 20, 1943, he married Elizabeth J. "Betty" Sylvester in Burlington.
Mr. Tiemeier was a welder for Murray Ironworks for many years. He was a 1933 graduate of Burlington High School. He was an Army veteran, serving during the World War II on a maintenance barge stationed in Honolulu.
He was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church, Steamboat Senior Center, Machinist Local Union, and American Legion for 50 years. He was a gardener, avid Chicago Cubs fan and manager for the Burlington American Little League. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching track, football, especially Iowa Hawkeye football, and was known as Mr. Fix-It for his ability to fix anything.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Michael Tiemeier of Peoria, Ariz., Steven Tiemeier of Burlington, Thomas Tiemeier of Bettendorf, and Dennis Tiemeier of Crossroads, Texas; one daughter, Nancy Dwight of Park Rapids, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Tiemeier of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
